You hear on the news everyday it seems how a child was beat up so bad in school and the parents march to the schools, raise hell....for what? Nothing...the schools do NOTHING! My son was this victim! Nothing was ever done. One time it was on the bus and I was told this particular kid could not be kicked off the bus because he had no other way to get to school!!! WHAT??? Maybe the parents would have to WALK him there...seriously, and maybe the parents would actually be mad enough that they would teach their kid to not be a bully??
When I ask them if he could take a recorder into the classrooms to record his homework as the teacher read it off at the end of the day...the principle was there and frantically shook his head "NOOO" at the IEP coordinator! Why? Suspicious...you bet you bootie it is! Because, crazy things could be caught on tape.
When my son was in Elem. school...you were not allowed to go to you child's class to check on them. I understand the concept of checking in, for safety, I do...but they refused to allow known parents to look in on the child's class or walk the halls, this is MY child, not yours....I found out why! I snuck in one day and the teacher was lining kids up in the hall, jerking them around, like 1st graders, yelling and speaking rudely to them. Wonder why your kids come home with attitude, teachers are teaching them alright, Attitude 101~! I peeked in on my son who was in 1st grade at the time and they were doing calendar time, my son was looking at the carpet, picking at the carpet...not paying any attention! I went to the office, needless to say they were not happy I had walked the halls but I ask them why my son was looking at the floor for 10 full min. and the teacher never bothered to re-direct him to the board??? How is he suppose to learn if he is looking at the floor??
Teachers bully the kids in schools so bad and that is one of the real reasons they do not want recorders or parents walking around, they don't want to be sued!
My sons Math teacher in 6th grade use to bully him so bad he would come home crying. He would tell me that the teacher, who was actually the Para Pro that helped the teacher, would tell him he had already explained things to him and he would refuse to help him anymore, tell him he was making excuses, send him to "Silent Lunch" when he didn't finish his math work, so he could finish it. #1- Silent Lunch is for kids who are bad and goof off during class, not for kids who are diagnosed with a MATH LD! He has Dyscalcula! Help my child, I begged them! He was refused bathroom breaks, my child (6th grader, mind you) who was potty trained fully at 2 years old....wet his pants 3x!!! Why, because the math Para Pro and teacher refused him a restroom break accusing him of trying to get out of class. I told them he has anxiety, they know this...If he is anxious he has to pee more and you are not helping him not to be anxious!
You see so much now how small kids are being suspended for bringing an army man to school, or biting their pop tart into the shape of a gun! These supposed college educated people are so far from smart it is not even funny!!
The schools also have to follow the governments rules and regulations which does not work for every child! They refuse to see this and refuse to help kids in a way in which they learn! They ridicule the children and make them feel bad about their work and about not knowing or understanding their work. This is not ok, none of this is ok at all! They have to pass a test at the end of the year or they fail the grade. Even if they have straight A's all year long and fail the CRCT! Thats nuts! They try harder and harder each year to control the kids and families.
One year, my son was in 4th grade I think it was. We, as his parents decided to take him out of school a few days, because my husband, his father, only gets time off when HIS BOSS tells him he can, not when the PS system says, so we took him out a couple days, unsure for what...then we took him out on his birthday one day and we took 3 days for our family vacation. Because, we ARE his parents after all! We ended up with a notice from Social Services saying he had been out of school 5 days for the whole year and that if we missed one more we would receive a home visit! Are you kidding me??? They think they own everyone! This is one reason we do not want this Common Core crap to happen. I don't want any part of the government controlling what I do with MY child! They are already listening in on my personal phone calls!! Guess what, we are going to start school in Aug. next year and then we are gonna take off a week to go on vacation, why u ask...because I homeschool now and I CAN!
I wish that I had pulled him out sooner because he did great being homeschooled in 5th grade, we sent him back for 6th and then he was in K12 (the online public school program) and was on the Honor Roll for 2 years (7th and 8th), and now we homeschool him traditionally for 9th and 10th and will continue for 11th and 12th!
